We're remodeling and we want to be eco-smart about it! So from floor to ceiling, as much as is possible, we're going green. Fortunately, it won't be too hard to fulfill this criteria for our starting point of flooring because there are lines such as Empire carpet that offer eco-friendly products. We're also looking at bamboo flooring, as offered by Empire Today for instance, because that's a sustainable material. For paints, we're going as non-toxic as possible, and we're installing solar panels and for our heating and water. We're glad to live in an area where this form of power works. Our windows will be highly insulating and our appliances will be energy efficient. All of this is a big job. It's worth it because we want our home to reflect not only our aesthetic taste but our values as well. We're really looking forward to enjoying this kind of integrity. The house is also going to look so beautiful, because these products by no means require compromising on aesthetics. We're not talking the equivalent of burlap here! Design has come a long way in incorporating energy-efficiency, sustainability and aesthetics. So going green is no sacrifice…there's only good to be gained for our carbon footprint on the planet and our enjoyment of our home.
